Sophia Moss

Therapist at Abri Psychotherapy

Sophia (they/she) is a licensed professional counselor associate with a degree in clinical mental health counseling from Naropa University. They work primarily with LGBTQIA+ adults and adolescents and offer weekly in-person or virtual therapy. Their clinical background has given them experience working with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, OCD, eating disorders, and those navigating loss, grief, and major life transitions. They also have extensive experience working with survivors of religious trauma and spiritually abusive communities. Sophia’s unique approach combines relational talk therapy with embodied approaches to healing like EMDR and somatic therapy, with a focus on helping the people they work with access their own sense of basic aliveness and inner healing intelligence.

Sophia completed her pre-graduate training at The Liberation Institute, an organization devoted to practicing therapy through the framework of liberation psychology and decolonial praxis. This training instilled in Sophia a strong value for practicing from foundations of justice and humility and viewing clients as the true experts on their own lives. Since joining Abri, Sophia is also receiving ongoing training and supervision in RO-DBT and has found this modality to be profoundly impactful in cultivating greater openness and depth in relationships.

In their free time, Sophia enjoys camping, hiking, and foraging in the Northwest wilderness. They are also a poet and writer who loves the world of literature, and most evenings you can find them hanging out at home with their cat and a good book.
